This study describes an analysis of the psychometric properties of a Spanish language version of the Stress in Children (SiC) questionnaire. A group of Chilean school children was evaluated. The results show a tested version of the mentioned questionnaire which consists of 16 items distributed across two factors (emotional well-being and sources of distress). Internal consistency indices (Cronbach's alpha-coefficients) were high. It is concluded there are appropriate psychometric properties for the Stress in Children questionnaire for this group of Chilean children. It is, therefore, a brief and easy to understand instrument of child assessment.Este estudio describe un análisis de las propiedades psicométricas de una versión en español del cuestionario Stress in Children (SiC). Se evaluó a un grupo de escolares chilenos. Los resultados muestran una versión probada del mencionado cuestionario que consta de 16 ítems distribuidos en dos factores (bienestar emocional y fuentes de angustia). Los índices de consistencia interna (coeficientes alfa de Cronbach) fueron altos. Se concluye que existen propiedades psicométricas apropiadas del cuestionario Stress in Children para este grupo de niños chilenos. Se trata, por tanto, de un instrumento de evaluación infantil breve y de fácil comprensión.
