El objetivo del artículo es destacar la transformación de la imagen individual y colectiva de los migrantes en México. Para ello se presentan las repercusiones económicas, sociales y políticas de las remesas en nuestro país, se muestra  el debate actual entorno al rol del migrante en el desarrollo de sus regiones de origen y se ilustra, con algunos ejemplos, la nueva “visibilidad pública” que han adquirido los migrantes tanto individual como colectivamente en los ámbitos municipal, estatal y federal de gobierno.This article aims to highlight the transformation of the individual and collective image of migrants in Mexico. In order to do this, we first present the economic, social and political impact of remittances in our country. Second, we analyze the current debate about the role of migrants in the development processes of their region of origin. And third, we illustrate the implications of this new "public visibility" that migrants, both individually and collectively, have acquired at the municipal, state and federal government level.
