ABSTRACT Interpretation of oral languages, performed in real time, is a practice that has enabled communication and interaction between people from different language communities since the dawn of time. With globalization, this need for communication and interaction between different language communities and areas has increased considerably. Everyday there are large and small events, negotiations, conferences, and presentations, made possible by interpreters. This research concisely presents the types and modes of interpreting, including the current remote practice, which widespread in the market with technological advances and because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, it addresses the establishment of the profession in Brazil, through the biography of the interpreter Elisabete Hart. Thus, this study reflects on the practices used by this interpreter, especially those linked to the theories of the field that deal with the distinct aspects of the profession. The title "And the Oscar goes to, Elisabete Hart", intends to recognize the excellence of the work done by the interpreter, identifying aspects of her professional life that contributed to the field of interpretation. Com a globalização, essa necessidade de comunicação e interação entre diversas comunidades linguísticas e áreas aumentou consideravelmente. Todos os dias acontecem eventos, negociações, congressos e apresentações, de pequeno e grande porte, viabilizados pelos intérpretes. Esta pesquisa apresenta, de maneira concisa, os tipos e modalidades de interpretação, incluindo a prática remota atual, que se fortaleceu no mercado, com o avanço tecnológico e em decorrência da pandemia da Covid-19. Além disso, buscou-se situar o estabelecimento da profissão no Brasil, por meio da biografia da intérprete Elisabete Hart. Assim, este trabalho reflete sobre as práticas utilizadas por essa intérprete, principalmente aquelas vinculadas às teorias da área que tratam dos aspectos distintivos da profissão. O título “E o Óscar vai para, Elisabete Hart” pretende reconhecer a excelência do trabalho realizado pela intérprete, identificando aspectos de sua vida profissional que contribuíram para a área de interpretação. A elaboração desta pesquisa almeja apresentar a materialidade refletida nas ações da intérprete, contribuindo com a historiografia da Interpretação.
