Ficciones palpables: una aproximación a la configuración de la reputación y su relación con la memoria en la novela Las reputaciones de Juan Gabriel Vásquez

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to analyze the intersections between the concepts of memory and reputation in the novel Las Reputaciones by Juan Gabriel Vásquez. It will argue that the conformation of individual and collective recollection are mediated by series of political practices that strive for a certain form of reputation. Besides exerting influence on the way memory is made, these practices determine the image of figures such as the characters of Javier Mallarino, Samanta Leal and Adolfo Cuéllar. In the development of this argument, through the philosophical perspective of political science, the present work will consider the concept of politics from Jacques Rancière, and the concept of memory from Paul Ricoeur and Pilar Riaño.
