Breve panorama de las visiones sobre el imperio otomano y Turquía en la histo_x0002_ria de las ideas latinoamericanas, a partir del siglo XVIII. Se hacen notar ciertos matices favorables al inicio, pero una valoración generalmente negativa en el siglo XIX. Un vuelco final en la opinión sólo fue posible tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial y la reacción nacionalista de Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (1918-1938). El artículo recoge algunas apreciaciones favorables sobre este dirigente en América Latina y concluye con una sumaria proyección hasta nuestra época.Brief panorama of the representations of the Ottoman Empire and Türkiye in Latin American ideas since the 18th century. Attention is drawn toward a few favorable nuances at the beginning, but the reader will notice mostly negative estimations throughout the 19th century. A final turnaround was possible after Second World War and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s subsequent nationalist reaction (1918-1938). This paper also recounts the favorable appreciation this leader had in Latin America and closes with a summary projection to the present.
