Resumen
Se aplicó un instrumento para la recolección de información a las autoridades y docentes en relación a las Dimensiones físicas, Intelectuales, Emocionales y Espirituales, los resultados se presentaron en una estructura apegada al modelo de ―La Persona Integral‖ de Stephen Covey, entendiendo que pretende estructurar los componentes de un Programa de Desarrollo Profesional Integral, lo cual dio como derivación la necesidad de un plan de Desarrollo Profesional y más aún cuando la Universidad no cuenta con el mismo. The purpose of this study was to develop and implement a teaching tool for monitoring curricular English teachers based on competency assessment model to more accurately assess the performance of teachers in the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) department. The 15 teachers were evaluated with the new instrument which found various areas for improvement and provides criteria for follow up activities. The instrument defines the skills needed to evaluate teachers: Performance Evaluation from the academic labor and research perspective, as well as teacher qualifications such as achievement orientation, technical, educational, student-oriented, and language skills. The assessment so far is just used to the basic needs to the university assessment, however, the current model provides better results applied it becomes a good proposal for improvement to be implemented at the University.
