The identity of an individual can be unitary and multiple, revealed and constructed, stable and fluid, and also, personal and social. Thus, the objective of this article was to analyze the formation of identities of indigenous subjects in today’s times. The research methodology is qualitative, and was based on a theoretical-conceptual and bibliographic study. The basis of the theoretical foundation consists, above all, in the studies Berger and Luckmann (2008), Bessa Freire (2004), Stavenhagen (2000), Munduruku (2012), Bruner (1997), Bauman (1999), Rajagopalan (2003). In general terms, the study concluded that the identity of indigenous peoples is submerged in a crisis because they are located in a space of contradictions and strangeness about legitimate knowledge, the place and the context, under which they belong.A identidade de um indivíduo pode ser unitária e múltipla, revelada e construída, estável e fluida, e, ainda, pessoal e social. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste artigo é analisar a formação das identidades dos sujeitos indígenas em época hodierna. A metodologia da pesquisa é qualitativa e firma-se em um estudo teórico-conceitual e bibliográfico. A base da fundamentação teórica consiste, sobretudo, nos estudos de Berger e Luckmann (2008), Bessa Freire (2004), Stavenhagen(2000), Munduruku (2012), Bruner (1997), Bauman (1999), Rajagopalan (2003). Em linhas gerais, o estudo concluiu que a identidade dos povos indígenas encontra-se em crise por se situarem em um espaço de contradições e de estranheza sobre o conhecimento, o lugar e o contexto, aos quais pertencem.
