O texto tem como objetivo mostrar a origem e a evolução das ações voltadas para a educação superior, no contexto confessional presbiteriano no Brasil. Como fontes foram usadas: documentos - atas, estatutos, relatórios, levantadas junco aos vários arquivos existentes; bibliografias, como pesquisas já realizadas sobre a educação presbiteriana no Brasil c sobrea sua história. Constatou-se que desde o início das suas atividades voltadas para a educação, os missionários/educadores fundadores das instituições, queriam implantar a educação superior, ideal presente ia por ocasião da fundação dos colégios '"Colégio Internacional" de Campinas 1869 e o "Colégio Americano de São Paulo. 1870. Que mesmo havendo resistências no interior da igreja, pelo fato que haviam divergências da concepção sobre a missão da igreja, quanto a relação evangelização e educação, fundaram instituições de educação superior, entre elas: Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie; Instituto Gammon e a Escola Superior de Agricultura de Lavras ESAL, e a Sociedade Presbiteriana de Educação e Pesquisa, na cidade de Caratinga/MG. Palavras-chave: Missão Presbiteriana; Educação superior; Projetos.   Abstract: The objective of the text is to show the origin and evolution of activities for the of higher education m the context of the Presbyterian faith in Brazil. Sources of information used include documents (minutes. by4aws, reports) from various available files, and bibliographies from research already undertaken regarding Presbyterian education in Brazil and its history. The research shows that from the beginning of their activities for the purpose of education, the missionaries/ educators and founders of institutions wanted to establish higher education. This ideal was already present at the funding of the high schools "Colégio Internacional" (International High School) in Campinas in 1869, and the "Colégio Americano em São Paulo" (American High School in São Paulo) in 1870. Even encountering resistance from inside the church, because of divergent conceptions the mission of the church regarding evangelization and education, institutions of higher education were founded among them: Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie (Mackenzie Presbyterian University); Institute Gammon (Gammon Institute) and the Escola Superior de Agricultura de Lavras ESAL (Lavras Agricultural College); and the Sociedade Presbiteriana de Educação e Pesquisa (Presbyterian Society of Education and Research) in the city of Caratinga/MG, Brazil, Keywords: Presbyterian mission; higher education; projects.
