dc.descriptionThis research discusses the translation presented, specifically in the Portuguese subtitles, of the queer sociolect explored on the TV series Pose. The story is set in New York City between the 1980s and 1990s and focuses on a Latin American and African American LGBTQIAP+ community and, particularly, on its ballroom culture. The dialogues between the characters feature a wide range of slangs and expressions which are peculiar to this social group. We argue this language should be called "socioleto queer" in Portuguese. We analyse the caption lines of scenes from two episodes, the first episode of the first season and the first episode of the second season. This research, situated in the incipient field of queer translation in Brazil, addresses, in particular, the effect the portuguese subtitles of these episodes produces on the viewer's perception of the characters' gender identities.

dc.descriptionEste trabalho discute a tradução presente, especificamente, nas legendas para o português, do socioleto queer explorado na série de TV Pose. O enredo da série é situado em Nova York, entre os anos de 1980 e 1990, e foca em uma comunidade LGBTQIAP+ latino-americana e afro-americana e, em particular, na cultura de ballroom, os bailes em que se compete por troféus e reconhecimento através de danças e desfiles, que se desenvolveu nesse espaço. Os diálogos entre os personagens contam com diversas gírias e expressões que, características desse grupo social, denominamos socioleto queer. Foram analisadas linhas de legenda de cenas de dois episódios, notadamente o primeiro episódio da primeira temporada e o primeiro episódio da segunda temporada. Situada no incipiente campo da tradução queer no Brasil, esta pesquisa aborda, em particular, o efeito produzido pelas legendas em português desses episódios sobre a percepção do espectador acerca das identidades de gênero das personagens.
