Resumen
When managers decide to internationalize their companies, they face the
challenge of selecting the appropriate market to sell their products and
services. In this scenario, the concept of geographical, cultural, economic
and administrative distance between home and host countries is a key
factor to analyze. This bibliometric analysis aims to revise the available
literature on the role of distance in international business. Findings from a
bibliometric analysis of 315 papers explain the applications and limitations
of each type of distance (cultural, administrative, geographic and economic).
This study reveals that the concept adapts to the societies and authors who
study it as well as the context in which it exists. Additionally, it may have a
positive or negative impact on businesses’ and industries’ strategic decisions
at various levels. These findings have different implications for scholars
and practitioners since the different dimensions of distance should be
analyzed in several contexts that result in different performance outcomes
in international business. No aplica
