dc.descriptionIn this article, the authors present an analysis of the genesis and further implementation of a methodological tool which was fundamental in the constitutive phase of an interdisciplinary research project on the psychological wellbeing of Aymara children in schooling contexts in the city of Arica, in northern Chile. This region is characterized by the presence of strongly marked intercultural situations between what, simply put, could be called a hegemonic national-Chilean culture and the indigenous tradition of the Aymara minority. First, the authors reflect upon the process of elaboration of a Scale of Involvement in Aymara Culture (EICA), beginning with a first research stage consisting of anthropological and qualitative considerations of acculturation and interculturality. They then analyze how this scale was implemented following a quantitative procedure and showing how it was fine-tuned along the way in a number of different subscales. The EICA scale was developed with the goal of preventing an essentialist attitude when speaking of Aymara children, given the fact that these children live in very different situations of interculturality. Constructed on the basis of a series of cultural practices that are supposed to be characteristic of the dynamic Aymara tradition, this quantitative-qualitative tool aspires to measure, to some extent, the different degrees in which children are involved in this tradition, as they move in a dynamic continuum of complex intercultural relations. Throughout a detailed discussion of the first results of the quantitative application of the tool, the authors show its relevance and utility in order to better understand, both qualitatively and quantitatively, the dynamic social and cultural universe these Aymara children inhabit.
dc.descriptionEn este artículo, los autores presentan un análisis de la génesis y posterior implementación de una herramienta metodológica que fue fundamental en la fase constitutiva de un proyecto de investigación interdisciplinario sobre el bienestar psicológico de niños aymaras en contextos escolares de la ciudad de Arica, en el norte de Chile. . Esta región se caracteriza por la presencia de situaciones interculturales fuertemente marcadas entre lo que, en pocas palabras, podría llamarse una cultura nacional-chilena hegemónica y la tradición indígena de la minoría aymara. En primer lugar, los autores reflexionan sobre el proceso de elaboración de una Escala de Implicación en la Cultura Aymara (EICA), a partir de una primera etapa de investigación consistente en consideraciones antropológicas y cualitativas de aculturación e interculturalidad. Luego analizan cómo se implementó esta escala siguiendo un procedimiento cuantitativo y mostrando cómo se ajustó a lo largo del camino en varias subescalas diferentes. La escala EICA se elaboró con el objetivo de evitar una actitud esencialista al hablar de niños aymaras, dado que estos niños viven situaciones de interculturalidad muy diferentes. Construida sobre la base de una serie de prácticas culturales que se suponen propias de la dinámica tradición aymara, esta herramienta cuantitativo-cualitativa aspira a medir, en alguna medida, los diferentes grados en que los niños se involucran en esta tradición, a medida que avanzan. en un continuo dinámico de complejas relaciones interculturales. A través de una discusión detallada de los primeros resultados de la aplicación cuantitativa de la herramienta, los autores muestran su pertinencia y utilidad para comprender mejor, tanto cualitativa como cuantitativamente, el dinámico universo social y cultural que habitan estos niños aymaras.
