In this paper we approach section 45 of The World as Will and Representation with the intention of reconstructing the context in which Schopenhauer presents the anticipation of the Idea of humanity as condition for its identification in nature and for its reproduction in the works of art whose aim is to depict such Idea. We intend to indicate that the conception of such anticipation comes to the fore only as consequence of the human character’s duality and then highlight that the possibility of this anticipation is restricted to the Idea that corresponds to the highest level of the will’s objectivation.No presente texto, abordamos a seção 45 de O mundo como vontade e representação com a intenção de reconstruir o contexto no qual Schopenhauer apresenta a antecipação da Ideia de humanidade como condição de seu reconhecimento na natureza e de sua reprodução nas obras de arte que com ela se ocupam. Pretendemos indicar que a concepção de tal antecipação surge apenas como consequência da dualidade do caráter humano, para então destacar que a possibilidade dessa antecipação se restringe a Ideia que corresponde ao mais alto grau de objetivação da vontade.
