This work intends to investigate, within the narrative economy of the novel Duas iguais, by Cíntia Moscovich, the role played by references to two specific moments in which dictatorships inflicted on diverse populations not only the violation of the law, but the threat to the very survival of some segments of the population. They are the Holocaust, present in the memories that the protagonist, Clara, hears from the survivors, and the Brazilian military dictatorship, which she witnesses without, however, being very clear about what she is experiencing. In a first reading, these elements serve to characterize the protagonist as a member of the Jewish community and of a generation, the one that reached adolescence in the final years of the military dictatorship.Este trabalho pretende investigar, dentro da economia narrativa do romance Duas iguais, de Cíntia Moscovich, a função desempenhada pelas referências a dois momentos determinados em que ditaduras inflingiram a populações diversas não apenas a violação da lei, mas a ameaça à própria sobrevivência de alguns segmentos da população. São eles o Holocausto, presente nas memórias que a protagonista, Clara, ouve dos sobreviventes, e a ditadura militar brasileira, que ela testemunha sem ter, no entanto, muita clareza do que está vivendo. Em uma primeira leitura, esses elementos servem para caracterizar a protagonista como membro da comunidade judaica e de uma geração, a que alcançou a adolescência nos anos finais da ditadura militar.
