Based on the thought that points to the repetition, over time, of oppressions directed at less favored groups, namely the tradition of the oppressed (BENJAMIN, 2012), this article proposes a reflection on two ways of establishing resistance against to situations that cannot be tolerated: melancholy, as a form of self-expression of humanity, conceived under the reactive scope, as an inevitable feeling in the face of oppression. And literature, constituted as an act of resistance, by its political force which, ultimately, can illuminate the paths and help the understanding of the peoples that, gradually, the hegemonic power tried to subjugate.A partir do pensamento que aponta a repetição, ao longo do tempo, das opressões direcionadas a grupos menos favorecidos, nomeadamente a tradição dos oprimidos (BENJAMIN, 2012), este artigo propõe uma reflexão acerca de duas formas de estabelecer uma resistência frente a situações que não se podem tolerar: a melancolia, como forma de expressão própria da humanidade, concebida sob o escopo reativo, enquanto um sentimento inevitável diante das opressões, e a literatura, constituída como um ato de resistência, por sua força política que, em última instância, pode iluminar os caminhos e ajudar à compreensão dos povos que, paulatinamente, o poder hegemônico tentou subjugar.
