Resumen
This paper analyzes the links between Literature and History with a view to the novel As vésperas esquecidas by Maria Isabel Barreno. This novel considers the historical period of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal, and observes, in relation to the characters, issues concerning the prosecution, the colonial wars, fear, and the maintenance of the Salazar regime. The main intention of this study is to reflect about how literature can serve to problematize the historical account, besides observing the construction of the characters regarding the historical background in which the text was embedded.
