This article proposes a reflection about the relationship language/poetry, as taken in language studies, based on the theoretical assumptions of Discourse Analysis (PÊCHEUX, 1988; 2004; ORLANDI, 1999; MARIANI, 2004). Our interest is to show how the separation between language/poetry, these studies produced theoretical and analytical consequences for the reading/interpretation of the poetic text, whence come today traditional practices that disallow reading by linguistic theories. In addition to the discourse theory, the analysis, which cuts out the literary work Poemas concebidos sem pecado (1937), by Manoel de Barros (1916-2014), the Cabeludinho poetry, shows the ways in which language (if ) fold on itself, highlighting the poetry of this poet, the language proper functioning nowadays.Este artigo propõe uma reflexão sobre a relação língua/poesia, conforme tomada nos estudos da linguagem, com base nos pressupostos teóricos da Análise do Discurso (PÊCHEUX, 1988; 2004; ORLANDI, 1999; MARIANI, 2004). Nosso interesse é mostrar como a separação entre língua/poesia, nesses estudos, produziu consequências teórico-analíticas em relação à leitura/interpretação do texto poético, donde advêm, ainda hoje, práticas tradicionais que desautorizam sua leitura pelas teorias linguísticas. Para além da teoria discursiva, a análise, que recorta a poesia Cabeludinho, da obra Poemas concebidos sem pecado (1937), de Manoel de Barros (1916-2014), mostra os modos pelos quais a linguagem (se) dobra sobre si mesma, ressaltando o funcionamento próprio da língua na contemporaneidade.
