In this article, a research carried out in an Undergraduate Complementary Discipline from a Music teaching degree in southern Brazil is described. In the methodological proposal of this discipline, oral and written narratives about the undergraduates’ musical memories are problematized. The analysis is carried out through writings concerning the final paper which are analyzed as “self-narratives” according to the dimensions of “self-experience” brought by Larrosa (1994). We believe that the reflections on this research and the resulting problematizations on the teaching methodology of this sort and the discipline can add to discussions on teaching research in the field of Music Education as well as to the contribution of the arts in the field of Education.Neste artigo é descrita uma pesquisa realizada em uma Disciplina Complementar de Graduação de um curso de Licenciatura em Música do Sul do Brasil. Na proposta metodológica dessa disciplina são problematizadas narrativas orais e escritas sobre memórias musicais dos licenciandos. A análise é feita a partir dos escritos no trabalho final da disciplina que são analisados como “narrativas de si” a partir das dimensões da “experiência de si” trazidas por Larrosa (1994). Acredita-se que as reflexões sobre esta pesquisa e as consequentes problematizações sobre a metodologia de ensino desse tipo e disciplina possam contribuir para os debates sobre ensino de pesquisa na área de Educação Musical, bem como para a contribuição das artes para a área de Educação.
