The study addresses on the experience of cinema in Uruguay from the viewpoint of its products and his fight to preserve and disseminate the cinema, with Uruguayan Cinemateca is the biggest icon. It´s presented through a brief history of Uruguayan film and main difficulties in production, restoration and distribution of their works, since the first production until the present day. Pioneers like Félix Olivier and Lorenzo Adrohere, stories about important films such as Pequeño héroe del Arroyo del Oro, and major events for the film industry in this country as the year of 1949 and the first movieclubs, the years 1960s and the videos of political ideals, the crisis of the 1990s, culminating with the success of the film and the recent phenomenon of Whisky and the resumption of Uruguayan cinema in 2000s.O estudo remonta a experiência da cinematografia do Uruguai do ponto de vista de suas produções e seus esforços em salvaguardar e divulgar o cinema, tendo como maior ícone desta segunda a Cinemateca Uruguaia. É apresentada através uma breve história do cinema uruguaio e suas principais dificuldades de produção, restauração e divulgação de suas obras, desde as primeiras produções até os dias atuais. São mencionadas as produções de pioneiros como Félix Olivier e Lorenzo Adrohere, histórias sobre o paradeiro de filmes importantes como Pequeño héroe del Arroyo del Oro, além de eventos importantes para a cinematografia deste país como o ano de 1949 e os primeiros levantes cineclubistas, os anos 1960 e os vídeos de cunho político, a crise dos anos 1990, culminando com o sucesso do filme Whisky e o recente fenômeno da retomada do cinema uruguaio nos anos 2000.
