Estereotipos de Género en los Hombres Profesionales de Enfermería de la Ciudad de Cúcuta, Norte de Santander

Abstract

El objetivo de la presente investigación fue analizar los estereotipos de género en los hombres profesionales de Enfermería de la ciudad de Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, esto desde el relato de las experiencias vividas por los sujetos de estudio. El trabajo presentado se fundamenta por la teoría transcultural de Madeleine Leininger y se realizó mediante una metodología cualitativa con un enfoque fenomenológico, donde se utilizó como instrumento la entrevista semiestructurada. Se obtuvo como resultado que, predomina un trato igualitario en el ámbito laboral independientemente del género, por lo cual no se ha sentido excluido por el hecho de ser hombre, al contrario de ello, consideran tener buena receptividad y oportunidades, salvo algunos servicios por pudor de las pacientes. En conclusión, se puede afirmar que pese a la feminización de la profesión de enfermería existente años atrás, esta se ha ido aboliendo y que actualmente en la ciudad existe menos estigma hacia el ejercicio de esta profesión por parte del hombre, quien se ha podido desenvolver satisfactoriamente en las instituciones de salud de Cúcuta.

The objective of this research was to analyze gender stereotypes in male nursing professionals in the city of Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, this from the report of the experiences lived by the study subjects. The work presented is based on the cross-cultural theory of Madeleine Leininger and was carried out using a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach, where the semi-structured interview was used as an instrument. As a result, equal treatment prevails in the workplace regardless of gender, so it has not felt excluded by the fact of being a man, on the contrary, they consider having good receptivity and opportunities, except for some services due to the modesty of the patients. In conclusion, it can be affirmed that despite the feminization of the nursing profession existing years ago, it has been abolished and that currently in the city there is less stigma towards the exercise of this profession by men, who have been able to develop satisfactorily in the health institutions of Cúcuta.
