Considerando el diplomado de “Seguridad Multidimensional”, el presente ensayo busca analizar la influencia ejercida por el fenómeno del cambio climático sobre la Seguridad Alimentaria en la región latinoamericana, ya que cambios tan drásticos en el entorno natural no pasan desapercibidos dentro de esta rama de la seguridad. Es así, que en un primer momento será pertinente dar una conceptualización general de algunos términos clave como las dimensiones de la Seguridad Alimentaria y el cambio climático. Posteriormente, se hará un breve análisis de la temática desde la teoría económica de la dependencia, la cual dará luz sobre ciertos factores y tendencias que afectan en si misma a la seguridad alimentaria. Seguidamente, se expondrán algunos datos estadísticos en términos porcentuales tanto de manera regional, como desagregada por países, ello con el fin de visualizar la evolución, ya sea positiva o negativa, del espectro de Seguridad Alimentaria en la región; consecutivamente, se pretende identificar las variables del cambio climático que generalmente tienden a afectar de manera prolongada las dimensiones de la Seguridad Alimentaria de los latinoamericanos; luego de ello, se abordaran algunas iniciativas interesantes propuestas por la FAO alrededor de la mitigación de la inseguridad alimentaria, ello ilustrado brevemente en el estudio de caso de la región del Junín en Perú con la implementación de los sistemas de atrapanieblas, además de como países vecinos se están uniendo a la iniciativa. Finalmente, la conclusión estará dirigida a analizar como el cambiar las actividades cotidianas como la recolección del agua de manera innovadora puede transformar de forma positiva las preocupantes estadísticas de Seguridad Alimentaria en la región y el cómo es importante que los gobiernos no dejen este tema como otro más de la agenda.Considering the "Multidimensional Security" diploma course, this essay seeks to analyze the influence exerted by the phenomenon of climate change on food security in the Latin American region, since such drastic changes in the natural environment do not go unnoticed within this branch of the security. Thus, at first it will be pertinent to give a general conceptualization of some key terms such as the dimensions of food security and climate change. Subsequently, a brief analysis of the subject will be made from the economic theory of dependency, which will shed light on certain factors and trends that affect food security itself. Next, some statistical data will be presented in terms of percentages both regionally and disaggregated by country, in order to visualize the evolution, whether positive or negative, of the spectrum of food security in the region; Consecutively, it is intended to identify the climate change variables that generally tend to affect the dimensions of food security of Latin Americans in a prolonged manner; After that, some interesting initiatives proposed by the FAO around the mitigation of food insecurity will be addressed, briefly illustrated in the case study of the Junín region in Peru with the implementation of fog catcher systems, in addition to how countries neighbors are joining the initiative. Finally, the conclusion will be aimed at analyzing how changing daily activities such as water collection in an innovative way can positively transform the worrying food security statistics in the region and how it is important that governments do not leave this issue as another more on the agenda.Pregrado
