Resumen
This document presents the development of the journalistic "Avance educativo en Chaparral, un futuro que promete ¿pero cumple?” The general objective sought to elaborate a journalistic report that makes visible the state of execution of the postulates on rural education of point 1.3.2.2, provided in the Final Agreement for the Termination of the Conflict and the Construction of a Stable and Lasting Peace (2016), in the municipality of Chaparral, Tolima.
We resorted to journalistic resources such as the collection of information on the territory and the history on the search for peace in Colombia; the testimonies of students, teachers and parents belonging to the Chaparral community; the response of government entities to the problem; and an observation work that allowed confirming the statements of the sources.
The main finding of the research was that the education gap between rural and urban areas in Colombia persists and is reflected in the limited educational opportunities and lack of infrastructure in rural areas. In addition, the economic conditions in these territories do not offer sufficient guarantees for young people to continue in school, since they must help their families in agriculture or other labor activities to ensure daily sustenance at home.
The above is supported by a three-chapter journalistic report that in its narrative develops the historical context of Chaparral and its relationship with the armed conflict in Colombia, exposes the postulates in the 2016 Peace Agreement of the point that refers to rural education, and evidences the progress, challenges, and needs that education in the territory still presents.
