O arquivista através do olhar cinematográfico

Abstract

This study aims to provide the reader with a reflection on the image of the archivist transmitted to the public by the cinema. The choice of subject was due to the need to contribute to the profession of archivist, since there is a wrong representation of the archivist in most movies that area. The analyzed films cover the period between the years 1985 to 2009, they are: The Lives of Others, In Peacetime, Das schreckliche Mädchen, In the Name of the Father, Brazil, Erin Brockovich ,Everything Is Illuminated and the episode Os Aspones. Concomitant with the development work, selection and analysis of the films was carried out a literature in the areas of Archival, History and Cinema, in order to identify and select texts that could base the search. As a result it was realized that the image representation Archivist conveyed by cinema is distinct from the contemporary archivist. When we do an overview of the films used for research, focusing on issues relating to files and representativeness of archivists in the cinema, it was found that the figure Archivist conveyed in films used to carry out research is perpetuated by the media in form stereotypes, as a professional without academic training, unethical, which basically performs technical work and boring and sloppy physical appearance. The file, archivist workplace is presented in most films as a punishment environment and disorder.
