O Serviço Social na Associação Amparo Providência Lar das Vovozinhas

Abstract

Older people face on a daily basis many difficulties in a capitalist society in which has value only who produces, being stigmatized and excluded by society, which acts as if it would never get old, seeing it as unproductive. In this sense, the present work has as North the social worker with the elderly, seeking to identify the role of the professional social worker from the multiple focus that should have people of greater age, identifying tasks and procedures. The work has a bibliographical research on the condition of the elderly in Brazil and a field report of work performed by the Social Service in the home of the Grandmas, Amparo questioning the professional performance in situations of extreme vulnerability. It was concluded that the social worker fits a ação educativa, in order to trigger a reflexive process in the elderly and their families so that they can improve their quality of life and recover their self esteem
