Having in view the transformations required by the LDB/96 managed
for a democratic administration, the present work proposes to analyze the
Supervisor's function in the school context, establishing its function to the
several moments of the Brazilian educational history. The new
administration proposal has as base the participation of the school
collective, this wins a certain autonomy, requiring an efficient and
actualized performance from its professionals. This requests of its
managers, especially the Supervisor, a deep reflection about an democratic
innovator action of the educational process. In this perspective, the
Supervisor is an agent dinamizador, intermediater, integrater and
coordinator of the technician-political-pedagogic process in the school
administration. The methodology used for the development of the work is
of qualitative character, whose research field is the Escola Municipal de
Ensino Fundamental Augusto Vitor Costa. The research was accomplished
through interviews with the directive and educational team of the
institution about the function supervisor's acting in the school context. It is,
therefore, of a case study, whose description, analysis and interpretation of
the investigated reality were gradatively built through the direct observation.
