O setor automotivo no Brasil: uma perspectiva do comércio intraindustrial

Abstract

The goal of this study is to analyze the existence of intra-industrial trade between Brazil and Mercosul, the European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, with an emphasis on the automotive industry, using Harmonized System export and import data from 2009 to 2019 to calculate the Grubel-Lloyd index. This study also verified the concentration of exports by industry and destination. The results indicated a strong intensity in the intra-industry trade of the Brazilian economy with Mercosul and the existence of an inter-industry trade and a significant concentration of exports with the European Union. In addition to this, the results showed a strong participation of the automotive industry in Brazilian exports and government programs and policies for its development.
