Resumen
The present work at the end of the course has the general objective of understanding
and analyzing how the ethical-political project and the professional identity of Social
Work are present in the main scientific journals of relevance to the area, while
applying discourse analysis. in journal articles. The emergence of Social Work in
Brazil was also contextualized, as well as the development of the ethical-political
project over the years, comprising the conservative origin of the profession, which
worked in favor of the bourgeois order, and how the path followed by the profession
until it was linked the interests of the working class. The methodology chosen was
bibliographic research, which sought to identify what has already been written on the
topic in the analyzed magazines: Social Service & Society, Katálysis, Social Being
and Texts & Context. Altogether 122 articles were reviewed in the 2019 period,
among them, only two presented in their titles and keywords the direct mention of the
ethical-political project and / or professional identity. From this, discourse analysis
was used as an interpretation tool, which makes it possible to analyze the historical /
social context in which these articles were written and published, and thus,
demonstrating that the external environment has an influence on the way in which
writing is related to the society. It was possible to understand that the ethical-political
project is not debated in an abundant way. Therefore, understanding the research
and its conclusions, it is assessed that the debate on the professional project of
Social Work needs to be expanded
