Resumen
This work with the thematic “ethnic and racial relations in children’s education in Santa Maria/RS”,
presents a study about the understanding of possible factors that may influence the pedagogical
practice of the educator to contemplate in Early Childhood Education. It seeks to emphasize the
importance of approaching this theme from childhood and in order to build self knowledge and be
subjects with formed opinions. Since childhood education, they start to realize the socially constructed
difference early, and can generate ideological conflicts, like racism and prejudice, in this way, as the
school is a place that qualifies and disqualifies the subjects through social devices of gender, power
acquisitive, age range, ethnicity, between others, it is necessary to contemplate the thematic. For the
accomplishment of this work, theoretical references pertinent to the subject were approached, using
authors as Barbosa (2007), Rosemberg (2014) and the National Curriculum Guidelines for early
childhood Education (2009), as well the use of a qualitative and emploratory approach, because it tried
to explain the reason of the things, being realized the interpretation of meanings of a certain culture or
ideology, assisting in the analysis of the objects of interest.
