The Masticatory Muscles Miositis it’s a disease considered rare for
many authors and have probale cause, an imunomediate reaction with
production of antibodies against especific muscular fibres of masticatory
muscles, called 2M, that can presenter about two ways, acute or chronic.
This report relat a case of masticatory muscle miositis, in chronicle phase,
in a female dog, of German Shepherd breed eight years old, who was
consultation in a, surgery of Camobi Veterinary, in Santa Maria – RS. Due
the anamnesis and clinical signs presents for the pacient been compatible
with the disease, was fulfilled a definitive diagnostic throught of biopsy of
left temporal muscle, begining the treatment. The treatment was fulfilled
through of corticosteroid terapy with prednisone in imunosupressive dose
for a long time, together with a complementary food with vitamin, aminoacid
and dextrose, carrying to a satisfatory result, having in view the agravity
and cronicity of the case. In spite of satisfatory initiate result, the prognostic
it’s reserved, due the high chance to recidive and possible side effect originating of future corticosteroid terapy.
