Resumen
The discovery of asymptotic freedom in QCD led to the expectation that at large energy densities
the relevant degrees of freedom might be quarks and gluons instead of the usual hadrons,
forming the so-called Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). The main thermodynamic observable for
understanding the nature of the QGP is the pressure, which can be computed in perturbation
theory at high enough temperature by virtue of asymptotic freedom.
The expectation of computing the pressure up to any order is however naive: non-perturbative
screening of the magnetic component of the Yang-Mills sector manifests as severe infrared divergences
starting at the four-loop level. This obstacle can nevertheless be overcome by defining
Dimensionally-Reduced Effective Field Theories, isolating these effects in a simpler pure
Yang-Mills theory in three dimensions, essentially splitting the pressure in perturbative and
non-perturbative pieces.
In the present thesis, we pave the way to computing the last missing perturbative contribution
for knowing the full physical leading-order QCD pressure, consisting of a four-loop calculation
within thermal QCD, by classifying the distinct contributions. Filtering out a large fraction of
sub-diagrams that exhibit a factorized structure, we push ahead systematic simplifications of
the remaining core sum-integral structures taking into account systems of linear relations that
originate from symmetry- as well as integration-by-parts relations. This allow us to gauge the
grade of difficulty of the calculation, by analytic means.
Thanks ANID for financial support under grant ANID-Subdirección de Capital Humano/-Magíster Nacional/2021-22211544, and Centro de Ciencias Exactas UBB.
