This document details the agronomic management of the Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) crop. Its tree is considered an economic impact in other countries for its medicinal benefits. The conclusions determine that this review observed and analyzed the evidence supporting the beneficial effects on health with the consumption of tamarind. Likewise, these effects are due to its content of polyphenolic compounds and other compounds that are attributed to the reduction of chronic degenerative diseases. However, more research is needed to observe the bioavailability of these tamarind compounds and to have more exact scientific evidence of the importance from a nutritional and functional point of view and the research work carried out over the years has generated information that has It has been possible to know its taxonomic identification and agronomic characteristics in other countries, but there is no information from Ecuador. The proposed recommendations are to carry out studies in Tamarindo (Tamarindus indica) in Ecuador and to encourage farmers to produce and commercialize it as an alternative for economic income. El presente documento detalla sobre el manejo agronómico del cultivo de Tamarindo (Tamarindus indica). Su árbol es considerado como impacto económico en otros países por sus beneficios medicinales que posee. Las conclusiones determinan que en esta revisión se observó y se analizó las evidencias que sustenta los efectos benéficos para la salud con el consumo de tamarindo. Así mismo, estos efectos se deben a su contenido de compuestos polifenólicos y otros compuestos que se les atribuye la reducción de enfermedades crónicas degenerativas. Sin embargo, hace falta la realización de mayores investigaciones para observar la biodisponibilidad de estos compuestos del tamarindo y tener con más exactitud evidencias científicas de la importancia desde el punto de vista nutricional y funcional y los trabajos de investigación realizados durante años han generado información que ha permitido conocer su identificación taxonómica y características agronómicas en otros países, pero no existe información de Ecuador. Las recomendaciones planteadas son realizar estudios en Tamarindo (Tamarindus indica) en Ecuador e incentivar a los agricultores a su producción y comercialización como alternativa de ingreso económico.
