"The selection of varieties resistant to diseases carried out in laboratories and greenhouses constitute an alternative to the conventional methods, in which the evaluation and selection of material turns to be complicated
if it is at a field level as it often has to meet climatological problems, the pathogenic absence, as well as the availability of time, space, and economical resources; for what has been exposed, the object of this investigation was to evaluate the resistence of 13 patatas genotypes Solanum tuberosum to the Alternaría solani mushroom using for such a purpose a toxic filter and conidium suspension which carne forro three isolations of A. solani in the laboratory. The leaves were exposed to the toxic filter submerging the petioles in 10 ml of it. On the other hand, folioles detached
from the plant were inoculated whith a suspension of 20,000 conidium/ml. The results were the following: the toxic filter and the conidial suspension of A. solani had a different effect on the patato genotypes finding besides that the toxic filter is easier to manage, more aggressive and faster in the detection of resistant and sensitive genotypes in relation to the conidial suspension. In regard to the rootstalks, they had a different behavior according to their pathogenic agressiveness, being the C-EZ-1 the most aggressive one, the c-B-N the least aggressive one, and the C-P-3 the intermediate one. When evaluating the resistence of genotypes potatoes to the C-P-3 rootstalk of A. solani, we obtained as resistant to toxic filter and to conidial suspension:
GIGANTE, DIAMANTE, CEW and 780646. The resistan genotypes
far toxic filter and conidium suspension ·af A. solani
with the C-B-N rootstalk were GIGANTE, DIAMANTE, CEW nad viii
780646. The genotypes resistant to the toxic filter and to the conidial suspension from the C-EZ-1 rootstalk were the GIGANTE, DIAMANTE, and 780646. The GIGANTE, DIAMANTE and
780646 genotypes behavior was resistant to all the rootstalks and inoculation methods."
