cruzamientos se inició un programa de selección gamética y de retrocruzas;
ambientes (Tlahuelilpan, Hgo, Tierra Fría, Gto y El Prado, Galeana, N. L),
en el ciclo primavera - verano del 2007.
iv
"The plant breeding programs dedicated to the production of hybrids for
commercial exploitation have focused lines of investigation for the recovery
or improvement of hybrids parents that have demonstrated agronomical
quality and productivity in the agriculture market. The objectives of this
research were: Comparison of behavior per se of the original lines and their
recovered versions, to classify lines in heterotic groups focused in the SCA
response with compared two contrasting testers, to identify the best tester for
each one of the measured variables based in the “F” tests values and to
estimate the agronomical potential of three way experimental hybrids.
The plant material was constituted by eight selfed lines derived from
the ideotype population of the Instituto Mexicano del Maiz in the UAAAN.
These lines were crossbred with a donor population from International Maize
and Wheat Improvement Center, from these crosses on, gametic selection
and of retrocross breeds a program begun origining 117 recovered lines with
ix
three cycles of retrocrossbreds and two cycles of selfing. In order to know the
genetic potential of the recovered lines, they were crossed with two testers,
getting 140 three way hybrids.
Lines and the test crosses were evaluated in three environments.
(Tlahulipan, Hgo, Tierra Fria, Gto. y el Prado, Galeana, N.L.) in spring and
summer seasons of 2007.
The evaluations were grouped in two experiments: one included the
recovered and the original lines, sown under a randomly complete blocks
design, the other formed by the three way hybrids and 12 checks, under the
incomplete blocks designed at random with arrangement alfa - látice with two
replications by position. The agronomical characters evaluated were: FM, SF,
AP, RMP, AR, MC, PF, CP, CM, PROL and REND, these were used for the
construction of selection index.
In the per se lines, evaluation an variance analysis were for: male
flowering, plant’s height, cob/plant relation, prolificity and ear yield at 15.5%
moisture content of humidity (REND); showing significant differences with P≤
0.01 among lines in all agronomical characters, indicative of the genetic
diversity present.
x
The recovered lines were associated with their respective original lines
forming eight groups, to measure the diversity inside of them, the groups
presented significant differences (P ≤ 0.01 and P ≤ 0.05) for most of the
characters, what allows to speculate that the original version of the lines
differs from the recovered versions and that among the same recovered lines
there were differences, this variation was attributed to the ample genetic
variation of the donor and the criterion in the selection from the improver.
Throughout orthogonal contrasts based on the values of selection
index among lines, it 25 recovered lines were selected resulting statistically
superior to the originals and it was possible to determine the original line
255-18-19N-14-1-A-4-2-A as the best.
The analysis of variance combined from three way crosses, for the five
agronomical variables, as well as for the value of selection index detected
significant differences to the level of P≤ 0.01 in source hybrids, this can be
attributed to the big genetic diversity of the evaluated material and it made
possible the identification of 14 crossbreeds off test with SI superior (29, 26,
70, 105, 6, 2, 93, 24, 81, 112, 17, 25, 91, and 12).
In the line for tester variance analysis differences were observed to
the level of P ≤ 0.01 for all variables, what airms that there exists variation
among them, attributed to the diverse genetic make up that is present in
xi
every line. The significance stadistics (P ≤ 0.01) observed in the source
tester for the variables FM, RMP, and REND is indicative this testers differ.
In the source of variation line of tester were detected effects
stadistically significative (P ≤ 0.01), for the variables FM, AP, RMP, and
REND, these results mean lines behave in a different way when they are
crossed to different testers.
Classification of lines in heterotics groups was done by two ways, the
first one through the effects of SCA and the second based in average of
efficiency from the crossbreeds of tests getting classified 52 lines in the
heterotic dwarf group whereas 68 lines conformed the tropical heterotic
group. Considering that the power of discrimination from the testers is
associated to the F values estimated for each tester, the tropical tester was
the one to get the major value of F for the variables AP, RM, PROL, and
REND, for this performance it was considered the best discriminator of lines
for such characteristics. "
