dc.descriptionThis article analyzes the political culture of students from intercultural universities located in three Mexican regions: central, southeastern and Gulf. Political culture is understood as an individual’s subjective predispositions in the face of the political system, its institutions, actors and processes. One of its characteristics is that it is constructed on the basis of the social and political context in which people are immersed. The questionnaire, applied to 228 students from the three institutions, includes political information they have, their perception and level of trust in authority figures, as well as their attitudes towards political parties, voting and elections. Students’ lack of trust in the authorities, their distancing from political parties, and their scarce political information, all of them characteristics of a political culture distant from the democratic ideal, are evident.

La cultura política se entiende como las predisposiciones subjetivas de un individuo ante el sistema político, sus instituciones, actores y procesos. Una de sus características es que se construye a partir del contexto social y político en el que están inmersas las personas. El cuestionario, aplicado a 228 estudiantes de las tres instituciones, abarca la información política que tienen, la percepción y el nivel de confianza en las figuras de autoridad y sus actitudes ante los partidos políticos, el voto y las elecciones. Destaca la poca confianza de los alumnos en las figuras de gobierno, el distanciamiento hacia los partidos políticos y su escasa información política; rasgos de una cultura política alejada del ideal democrático.
