Transversal acoustic modes in resonant Raman: CdTe surface roughness study

Abstract

A biolistic protocol for the stable genetic transformation of the hardwood tree Paulownia elongata was developed. Leaf explants were bombarded using the PDS-1000/He system with plasmid pBI121. The introduced DNA contained the ?-glucuronidase (GUS) reporter gene and neomycin phosphotransferase (nptII) as a selection marker. Transformed calli were induced and selected on medium supplemented with 50 mg L-1 kanamycin, and transgenic plants were regenerated through indirect organogenesis. Complete plants were successfully transferred to soil and established under greenhouse conditions. Different helium pressures and explant positions were used and the transformation frequency was calculated. Optimal conditions for genetic transformation were bombardment of the abaxial leaf surface at a pressure of 450 psi. The integration of the transgenes in the plant genome and their stable expression was demonstrated by fluorometric GUS assay, determination of NPTII activity and PCR analysis. This method allows the production of transgenic trees of P. elongata in a relatively short time. Both mechanisms take into account a reinitiation step in the polymerization process, but they are different because 0Re-1,2 considers two kinds of termination steps: a zero- and a second-order terminations. However, in the second mechanism, 0Re-1, only one of those termination steps (the zero-order one) is presented. In both proposed mechanisms, the nondiffusive and diffusive cases are studied. Patients and methods: Case-control study of 110 neonates with transient tachypnea and 110 newborns controls, between May and October 2000, in the Hospital Civil de Guadalajara Dr. Juan I. Menchaca. The diagnosis of transient tachypnea was done by clinical and radiology data and exclusion of the other causes of respiratory distress. The exposure was documented by a direct interview to the mother and clinical information of the clinical expedient. The association was measured with the odds ratios and confidence interval of 95%. Results: The frequency of transient tachypnea was of 2 percent newborn alive. The risk factors that were associated with transient tachypnea was: low Apgar score at minute (OR: 33.74, CI 95%: 4.73-681.52), premature rupture of amniotic membranes (OR: 3.65, CI 95%: 1.53-8.90), cesarean section (OR: 2.01, CI 95%: 1.14-3.57) and masculine gender (OR: 2.02, CI 95%: 1.14-3.60). It was more frequent in the cases the antecedent of diabetes mellitus and bronchial asthma. The application of the spatial correlation model shows that there are two regions clearly defined, associated with the size of the wrinkle. One related to the phonon modes: TO, LO, 2TO and 2LO for big wrinkles; and a second one for an almost smooth surface that is dependent on the acoustic modes. The results reported here can be applied to characterize the quality of smoothness of a surface or to estimate the superficial rugosity under resonance conditions when this information is missing.
