A received thesis in psychology and philosophy links cognitive psychology to scientific realism, on the one hand, and behaviorism to antirealist positions, on the other hand. In this not we question the validity of the received view. Beyond slogans, a deeper examination suggests that the confluence between cognitive psychology and scientific realism is weaker than usually assumed. We try to explain why cognitivism cannot be easily reconcild with scientific realism. We sketch the implications of this thesis for behaviorism.Una tesis común en psicología y filosofía asocia a la psicología cognoscitiva con el realismo científico, por un lado, y al conductismo con tendencias antirealistas, por otro. En este trabajo cuestionamos la validez de esta tesis heredada. Más allá de las declaraciones oficiales, un examen crítico sugiere que la confluencia entre psicología cognoscitiva y realismo científico es más débil que lo que se supone habitualmente. Intentamos explicar porqué el enfoque cognoscitivo es difícilmente compatible con el realismo científico, y esbozamos las implicaciones de esta tesis para una renovación del conductismo.
