In 1997 Ixcatec, a language member of the Popolocan family which belongs to the Otomanguean phylum, was spoken by ten persons, all aged inhabitants of the village of Santa María Ixcatlán, Mixteca Alta, Oaxaca. That illustrates the extinction of Ixcatec. We describe the Ixcatec noun phrase. An overview of the phonemic system is followed by the categories and word classes that occur in the noun phrase: grammatical person, independent personal pronouns, the noun and its compositions, and the four classes of possesive marking, the classes of adjectives and articles, the category of the ‘restrictivo’ and the other pronouns. The article concludes with a list of some analyzed place names.En este artículo se describe la morfología nominal del ixcateco, lengua de la familia popolocana, del tronco otomangue y extinta en este momento, según los autores, quienes hacen un resumen del sistema fonémico, seguido por las categorías y clases de palabras de la frase nominal (persona gramatical, pronombre personal, sustantivo y la cuatro clases del posesivo). También abordan las diferentes clases de adjetivos, artículos, la categoría del restrictivo y otros pronombres. Concluyen con la enumeración y análisis de algunos nombres geográficos.
