Resumen
The present study has as object the material representations existing in the commune of Chillan, from the violations to the Human Rights perpetrated during the dictatorship in Chile (1973-1990). During the post-dictatorship, the construction of spaces that would portray the lived trauma and that had the purpose of leaving a mark in the society of what happened was determined. The memory sites were configured based on a specific and specific government policy, which were designed according to the needs of those who ran the country and not in relation to those who were part of the events that occurred. It is argued that places of memory constituted a space for debate for memory and were generated by political and cultural interests, depending on the meaning that they were intended to give at the time, which meant that their meanings are far apart from each other. Based on the above, we take as a case study, the memorials that were held within the commune of Chillan, which allows showing with the regional study, that the battles for memory happened not only in the big cities.
