Resumen
The thesis starts from the observation that there are components of the sacred that may or may
not determine the narratives of electronic games, to investigate the religious elements present
in the audiovisual operators of games with the theoretical references of transdisciplinaritycomplexity
and the archetypes of analytical psychology. The research methodology consists
of the formal analysis of games, a qualitative approach in the in-game perspective entitled
"gametnography", in which the researcher/player conducts research and analysis of religious
components in the act of playing the game. Such components are recurrent, especially in RPG
(roleplaying games), and awaken archetypal energies of the sacred in the player. This doctoral
thesis, therefore, seeks to review the concept of “sacred” in video games, propose a
criteriology for the study of the religious phenomenon in digital games, and point out paths
for Religious Education in digital culture.
