Suriname. Significant achievements 2015

Abstract

The main activities carried out by the Institute in Suriname during 2015 are identified, with respect to the needs and interests of the country, strengthening issues such as ecotourism, technology, composting, use of greenhouses, irrigation systems, water management, good agricultural practices , risk mitigation, hospitality, nursery employment and resilience against climate change. Likewise, work was done in a museum, the use of biofuels, in the use of organic fertilizers, the inclusion of excluded groups, such as women, in matters of legalization and registration. Finally, it supported the recovery of the soil, the cultivation of tissues and the improvement of value chains such as onions, pineapples and cattle.

Se identifican las principales actividades realizadas por el Instituto en Suriname durante el 2015, con respecto a las necesidades e intereses del país, fortaleciendo en temas como ecoturismo, tecnología, compostaje, uso de invernaderos, sistemas de riego, gestión de agua, buenas prácticas agrícolas, mitigación de riesgos, hotelería, empleo de viveros y resiliencia contra el cambio climático. Asimismo, se trabajo en un museo, el empleo de biocombustibles, en el uso de fertilizantes orgánicos, la inclusión de grupos excluidos, como las mujeres, en temas de legalización y registro. Finalmente, se apoyo en la recuperación del suelo, en el cultivo de tejidos y en mejorar las cadenas de valor como la cebolla, piña y bovinos.
