Resumen
The objective of this research study was to evaluate the impact of Corporate Education (CE) in the performance of workers at the Carambeí Unit of Perdigão S/A. The research question was thus defined as: How does the CE carried on at Perdigão S/A impacts employee’s performance? The method applied was inductive. This research is further characterized as applied, in function of its nature; qualitative, in function of its research problem; exploratory in function of its objectives and as a case study in function of the procedures adopted. The study was divided into two phases: the development of a theoretical framework (organized around three major subjects: corporate education, knowledge management and workers performance) and a practical phase (field study) which took place at Perdigão S/A. Data collection instruments utilized were: two semi-structured interviews and four questionnaires. Data collection was carried through in the swine evisceration department of the Carambeí Unit, which has a total of 72 employees - three technicians, one person responsible for the department’s CE, and 68 employees (who report directly to the technicians). Since this was a case study, all department employees were included (100% of the studied population). The method used to draw inferences from the interviews was qualitative analysis of content. The results indicated a positive impact of the EC, showing that it effectively improves workers performance. The conclusion is that, in the company studied, the EC fulfills its function of lining up employees’ performance and the organization’s strategic goals.
