Resumen
We use the phase space position-velocity (x, v) to deal with the statistical properties of velocity dependent dynamical systems, like dissipative ones. Within this approach, we study the statistical properties of an ensemble of harmonic oscillators in a linear weak dissipative media. Using the Debye model of a crystal, we calculate at first order in the dissipative parameter the entropy, free energy, internal energy, equation of state and specific heat using the classical and quantum approaches. For the classical approach we found that the entropy, the equation of state, and the free energy depend on the dissipative parameter, but the internal energy and specific heat do not depend of it. For the quantum case, we found that all the thermodynamical quantities depend on this parameter. Development: Glutamic acid (Glu) is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system which interacts with two types classified into two types: metabotropic and ionotropic. Ionotropic receptors are classified according to the affinity of their specific agonists: N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA), ?-amino acid-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole (AMPA) and kainic acid (KA). NMDA receptors are macromolecular structures that are formed by different combinations of subunits, NMDAR1 (NR1), NMDAR2 (NR2) and NMDAR3 (NR3). Conclusions: The study of this receptor has been of great interest due to its role in synaptic plasticity, but mainly due to the permeability it has to Ca++ ion. This review examines the molecular composition of NMDA receptor and the variants of NR1 subunit edition in association with NR2 subunit dimer, the main form of this receptor. The composition, structure and function and their distinct expression patterns in both time and space, has shown the versatility and diversity of functionally different isoforms of the NR1 subunit and various pharmacological properties of the NR2 subunit. © 2011 Sociedad Española de Neurología.",,,,,,"10.1016/j.nrl.2011.10.014",,,,"http://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-84861479286&partnerID=40&md5=157e3e60576a6abccd987a2ade1a74a3 http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12104/44800",,,,,,"5",,"Neurologia",,"301 310",,"27",,"Scopus WOS",,,,,,"Excitotoxicity; Isoforms; NMDA receptor; Subunit NR1; Subunit NR2",,,,"Structure and function of NMDA-type glutamate receptor subunits [Estructura y función de las subunidades del receptor a glutamato tipo NMDA]",,,,"Short Survey",

This motivated Civil Defense authorities of Jalisco and the Universidad de Guadalajara to launch in the year 2000 the assessment of the seismic risk of the region. This work focuses in the seismicity study of the area of Bahía de Banderas and northern coast of Jalisco, which is actually a seismic gap. We perform an analysis of available seismograms to characterize active crustal structures, their relationship to surface morphology, and possible extent of these structures into the bay shallow parts. The data consist of waveforms recorded during 2003 when the seismograph network spanned the region. Our method is based on the identification of seismic clusters or families using cross-correlation of waveforms, earthquake relocation and modeling of fault planes. From an initial data set of 404 located earthquakes, 96 earthquakes with ML < 3.6 are related to 17 potentially active continental structures. We present fault plane model for 11 structures. A subgroup of 7 structures is aligned parallel to the Middle America Trench, as a possible consequence of oblique subduction. The foci of the earthquakes were grouped into clusters corresponding to fault dimensions of hundred of meters, may be considered as asperities or barriers in tectonic structures with lengths between 10 and 30 km. These structures could generate shallow earthquakes with magnitudes between 5.0 and 6.0 and represent an additional seismic threat to the region.",,,,,,,,,"http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12104/44816","http://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-84871577276&partnerID=40&md5=2f99b13422efdbc57f9251be0c324802 http://www.scielo.org.mx/pdf/geoint/v52n1/v52n1a5.pdf",,,,,,"1",,"Geofisica Internacional",,"59 72",,"52",,"Scopus WOS PERIODICA",,,,,,"Bahía de Banderas; Cross-correlation; Jalisco block; Rivera plate; Seismic clusters; Seismic gap",,"Geofísica",,,,"Study of seismic clusters at Bahía de Banderas Region, Mexico",,"Article"

In cervical adenitis associated with generalized adenopathy GABHS is, along with S. aureus, the most commonly recovered bacteria. In peritonsillitis, GABHS can be recovered alone or in combination with anaerobes in 50% of the cases. These sequelae are usually associated with a slow clinical response to therapy and a high percentage of relapses, reinfections, and chronic infections in the presence of a penicillin-sensitive GABHS. One of the possible causes of these so-called failures is the interference that beta-lactamase producing bacteria can have on the activity of penicillin and similar compounds. When to select a beta-lactamase-resistant antibiotic for the treatment of an apparent penicillin-sensitive infection remains an important area for further research.",,,,,,,,,"http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12104/44764","http://www.scopus.com/inward/record.url?eid=2-s2.0-0024243809&partnerID=40&md5=da5d5768f9ea8fc0491a53ad8962c497 http://ovidsp.ovid.com/ovidweb.cgi?T=JS&CSC=Y&NEWS=N&PAGE=fulltext&D=med3&AN=3074467",,,,,,,,"Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, Supplement",,"12 19",,"57",,"Scopus MEDLINE WOS",,,,"Index Medicus;Adolescent;Adult;Child;Child, Preschool;Female;Humans;Infant;Male;Respiratory Tract Infections/co [Complications];Streptococcal Infections/co [Complications]",,,,,,,,"Streptococcal infections and their sequelae in the upper respiratory tract.",,"Review"

Verdaguer, E.",,"2011",,"In the present study we focused in the PI3K/Akt pathway which plays a key role in neuronal survival. Here we show that inhibition of PI3K/Akt by means of LY294002 induces apoptosis via a caspase-dependent and calpain-independent pathway in cerebellar granule neurons (CGNs). This finding was confirmed using zVAD-fmk, a widely caspase inhibitor that prevents apoptosis. For this purpose, we compared two models of apoptosis in CGNs, namely inhibition of PI3K/Akt, and serum potassium deprivation (S/K deprivation). In contrast to the S/K deprivation model, caspase-3 was not activated when PI3K is inhibited. Likewise, CDK5 activation was not involved in this apoptotic process, because calpain activation is responsible for the formation of CDK5/p25 neurotoxic form. However, S/K deprivation activated calpain, as it is shown by ?-spectrin breakdown, and favoured the formation of CDK5/p25. Moreover, although PI3K/Akt inhibition enhanced pRbser780 phosphorylation, no increase in the expression of cell-cycle proteins, namely: cyclin D, cyclin E, CDK2 or CDK4, was detected. Furthermore, BrdU incorporation assay did not shown any increase in DNA synthesis. Likewise, PI3K/Akt inhibition increased GSK3? activity and c-Jun phosphorylation, which implicates these two pathways in this apoptotic route. Although previous reports suggest that apoptosis induced in CGNs by LY294002 and S/K deprivation causes PI3K inhibition and increases GSK3? activity and c-Jun phosphorylation activation, our results demonstrate substantial differences between them and point to a key role of GSK3? in the apoptosis induced in CGNs in the two models tested. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. The structural properties of the films were evaluated by ?/2?, ? and ? scans. From these data the crystalline orientation relationships may be extracted. For films grown on SrTiO 3 and Sr(Nb)TiO3 substrates, the following orientation relationships were determined: PZT [001] parallel to [001] of the substrate, and PZT [100] parallel to [100] of the substrate. Films grown on LaAlO 3 substrates showed a bi-domain crystalline structure with orientation relationships as follows: PZT [100] parallel to [001] of the substrate and PZT [001] parallel to [001] of the substrate. This work was focused to the determination the strain and grain size coefficients, and the analysis of their contribution on the peak broadening in the XRD patterns, and in considering their effects over the ferroelectric behavior. From Williamson-Hall plots, it was possible to conclude that the enhancement of the crystalline film properties (epitaxy and single crystalline domains) reduce the short range strains contribution to peak broadening. On other hand, the grain size contribution to peak broadening was increased with the enhancement of the film cristallinity. " 2005 Materials Research Society.
