Epigenesis postulates that intelligence may arise in a system thanks to an adequate developmental process interacting with its environment. Robotics constitutes the most suitable field to implement this approach. This paper presents the underlying concept, an earlier proposal and a potential implementation of a prospective paradigm named Growing Functional Modules. This paradigm has been conceived to allow the design and the automatic development of a distributed and dynamic architecture able to gradually control an epigenetic robot. An illustration is given applying the paradigm to create a simple artificial brain for a mushroom shaped robot. Three major contributions are presented. First, a novel geometric characterization of observability based on input-output equivalence relations on the marking sequences sets is presented. Later, to show that this characterization is well posed, it is applied to linear continuous systems, leading to classical characterizations of observability for continuous systems. Finally, this paper translates the geometric characterization of observability into structural properties of the IPN. The large amount of surfactant required in microemulsion polymerization causes a peculiar kinetic behavior (i.e. only two reaction rate periods, continuous generation of particles through the entire reaction and the production of nanoparticles with a narrow particle size distribution), which needs to be understood. These key distinctive features of microemulsion polymerization are explained in terms of the existing framework for the modeling of emulsion polymerization. To reproduce experimental data on microemulsion polymerization of styrene, the model predicts a large desorption rate and the occurrence of both homogeneous and micellar nucleation mechanisms to account for the continuous nucleation of particles. © 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. Ortega Espino, J.",,"2006",,"Gliosarcoma is a very rare pathology almost exclusively seen in the supratentorial space, with a bad prognosis and limited response to other treatment modalities. This is a case presentation of a patient with a lesion of the cerebellopontine angle initially diagnosed as a meningioma, however further investigation with inmunohistochemistry techniques showed two components, a gliomatous and a sarcomatous. To our knowledge there are only three cases in the literature. It is noted to the best of the medical practice in Neurosurgery the complete analysis of the lesion including inmuno-histochemical assays. " INNN, 2006.
