Se ha estudiado la deshidratación de etanol por pervaporación empleando membranas de acetato de celulosa y poliamida. Las variables que se investigaron son la temperatura de operación, flujo de alimentación, concentración inicial de etanol, presión de vacío y tiempo. La concentración del etanol se analizó en base a sus índices de refracción. Los resultados muestran que los fenómenos de hinchamiento de la membrana, adsorción y difusión de agua a través de las membranas, son los factores que controlan el proceso de pervaporación y dependen de la temperatura de operación y flujo de alimentación; observándose que a mayor gradiente de presión se mejora la permeación del agua y por lo tanto se incrementa la concentración del etanol en el producto. La máxima concentración alcanzada fue del 97.8% de pureza, a temperatura de 35°C, flujo de alimentación de 1.55mL/min y estable durante las 10 horas de trabajo.
