The main objective of this research was the prevention of bullying at the male-and-female state school “República de Alemania,” located in the parish of Bellavista, belonging to the city of Cuenca. With this purpose, first to fifth grade teachers of Basic Education, sections A and B, were trained through mediation communicative strategies in order to contribute to the implementation of a peaceful environment and thus a culture of peace.
The method used in this research was correlational, which has made evident the positive changes the teachers have gone through after their training in school mediation. This can be visualized in the increase of their ability to manage conflicts and improve school coexistence.
For the fulfillment of the objectives proposed, an investigation was carried out about what countries have used school mediation. After the bibliography search, the design of a mediation guide was completed in order to finally train the teachers.
Having finished the training, the ten teachers who took part in this research demonstrate sensitivity to bullying at school, greater assertiveness, and communicative fluency to mediate conflicts. This allows to claim that the training developed abilities in the teachers that have enabled them to prevent bullying at “República de Alemania” school.
