Resumen
The research work began with the exploration and appropriation of illustration and artisanal alternative techniques found in the city of Cuenca. Popular neighborhood figures from Cuenca have also been compiled for further illustration; the character information has been taken from Cuenca writer Adolfo Parra’s book, “Rostros de los Barrios de Cuenca“. As for the themes that will be used in the thesis, the popular, the empirical and the uncultivated have been chosen. The end result will have a package of paper dolls, or cuquitas as they are also known, which will contain Cuenca neighborhood figures such as: Suco del Cenáculo, Paco Bermeo, Juana de Arco, María la Guagua, El Atacocos and Barbón Quinde; each produced with a different illustration technique. Six local techniques have been selected: cross-stitching, labeling, foam flex, pyrotechnics craft, handmade embroidery and marzipan
