dc.description.abstract | This research work with the theme "Sustainable mobility strategies as part of the "sustainable mobility plan at Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo 2020" had as general objective of proposing sustainable mobility strategies through technical and operational analysis of vehicle and pedestrian mobility to improve socio-environmental and mobility conditions at ESPOCH. In this research, the current situation was determined through the collection of data from the different research works that are part of the "Sustainable Mobility Plan of Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo". Also, in this research work, a mixed approach was used to analyze modal split, peak hours, travel times, travel costs, among other main factors. Furthermore, through surveys and observation sheets, the mobility characteristics of the study population were determined, that is students, teachers and other users who enter to the institution. People use more taxis and private vehicles, leaving unimportant the use of the public bus, the bicycle path and much less encouraging walking. This is, because the road and pedestrian infrastructure are not in adequate conditions. It is recommended in this research to apply the strategies proposed both for vehicles by restricting the entry of taxis through the main gate and for pedestrians by using more public buses, bicycle paths and encouraging walking. | |
