Resumen
This work aims to analyze the machinima production logic and its possible motivations in the Brazilian context, listing some characteristics that try to situate the machinima in the participatory culture and the digital convergence. The consumption of games has been growing exponentially and the gamer culture has appropriated techniques and technologies, converging between markets and media formats, modifying the use of video games in a socio-cultural practice known as machinima. The present research work is based on the study of the theoretical reference on issues of digital convergence and participatory culture, as well as the historical and conceptual study of machinima. The theoretical study that bases this research guides the guidelines used for the analysis and interpretation of data obtained by online observation and questionnaire with open questions answered through the internet by Brazilian machinimators, participants of the research, who share their productions on YouTube. From the research carried out we can see some similarities between the techniques and technologies most commonly used in Brazilian machinima production, besides pointing out some possible motivations. This work may contribute to the understanding of the machinima universe, serving as the basis for future research.
