Ambar-INIA is the first glutinous rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivar released in Chile, with low amylose content (5%). Its was originated from germplasm donated by the Rice Millers Association to the Rice Breeding Program, of the National Agriculture Research Institute, Quilamapu Regional Research Center. It is a variety with short, round and opaque grain, a length/width ratio of 1.7; a semi-dwarf plant with erect leaves, later than the varieties currently in use.
