Resumen
The general objective of this monograph aims to review the updates and approaches in the non pharmacological treatment of diabetes mellitus type 1 (DM1) and 2 (DM2), verifying and studying the benefits or harms of non-pharmacological treatment of this comorbidity. According to estimates by the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of diabetics in the world in 2000 was 177 million and expected to reach 350 million by 2025 studies report the benefits and potential adverse effects of diet associated with physical activity , among others. This review is to gather information and priority review of the international literature on the proposed theme, touting the controversial information and conduct set by different authors, highlighting its risks and benefits, contributing to the planning of other scientific research. SciELO, PubMed, among others: relevant published studies and databases were analyzed. The effectiveness of a health action is related to the effectiveness of the measure, the diagnostic accuracy, adherence to the doctor, patient compliance and the level of coverage. It can be concluded that DM affects effectively the physiological adjustments related to carbohydrate metabolism, bringing disastrous consequences for the other physiological, mainly vascular systems, resulting in diseases that can ultimately lead to death. Additional studies involving physical exercise, diabetes mellitus still need to be performed in order to examine the physiological responses to exercise and their associations with specific genetic polymorphisms.
