Resumen
Introduction: Humanized childbirth is defined as “the set of good practices for carrying out labor and delivery without complications, which, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), promote the concept of the experience of care as a fundamental aspect to ensure high quality care in labor and delivery and better results focused on women and newborns ”. Globally, maternal complications and deaths during labor and delivery amount to 61 per 100,000 live births, of which 54% are avoidable by improving maternal care. Objective: To evaluate the association of humanized childbirth interventions in the decrease of instrumented childbirth, emergency caesarean section and APGAR less than 7 at birth in patients with low obstetric risk in a high complexity hospital in the private network in Bogotá. Materials and Methods: Descriptive, observational, analytical, cross-sectional study in patients with low obstetric risk to assess the relationship between the outcomes of emergency caesarean section, instrumented delivery, newborn with low APGAR and risk factors and exposure factors of humanized childbirth. Results: The variables that demonstrated association and statistical significance were: Breastfeeding for instrumented delivery, nasal aspiration and skin-to-skin contact for caesarean section and breastfeeding, nasal aspiration, skin-to-skin contact with the newborn and delayed cord clamping for an Apgar score <7 during the first 5 minutes of life. Conclusions: Childbirth and humanized care is an impeccable strategy in reducing morbidity in pregnant women with low obstetric risk.
